90 POINTS -James Laube, Wine Spectator
The 2010 WALT “Braughton Lane” Chardonnay displays a straw-greenish hue. Effusive aromas of ripe Pink Lady apple skins, papaya, white peach and nutmeg are symphonious and inviting. The palate is deep and rich, intense and lengthy, showcasing tropical fruits and lingering brown spice. We did not fine nor filter this wine, ensuring all of its deliciously nuanced character remains fully proclaimed.

2010 WALT “LA BRISA” SONOMA COUNTY CHARDONNAY… $35

ANDERSON VALLEY

2010 WALT “HEIN FAMILY VINEYARD” ANDERSON VALLEY PINOT NOIR… $60
92 POINTS -James Laube, Wine Spectator
The 2010 WALT “Hein Family Vineyard” Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is polished, sleek and graceful. We added 30% whole clusters to the fermentation tank to accentuate the fruit and add dimensions of texture. The wine abounds with violets, cherry, cranberry and spice. The palate offers an inviting grip which helps counterbalance the silky opulence of tannins. This wine will gain complexity and nuance for another 3-5 years.

2010 WALT “THE CORNERS” ANDERSON VALLEY PINOT NOIR… $60
In contrast to our BlueJay Pinot Noir, a blend of Anderson Valley vineyards, The Corners explodes with sweet, round tannin and ripe berry fruit. The elevation of the site and sheer rockiness of the soil evokes the voluptuousness and volume in this wine. Virile with blackberry and spiced plum flavors, the 2010 WALT “The Corners” Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is a full-blown display of the scrumptious side of this varietal.

2010 WALT “BLUEJAY” ANDERSON VALLEY PINOT NOIR… $40
Ultimately, our WALT Blue Jay must lead with delicacy, finesse and length, the calling card of great Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. The 2010 WALT “BlueJay” Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is complex and ethereal, with blueberry, briar fruit and black tea flavors which skate on endlessly through the finish. While the wine is delectable now, it will provide enjoyment for an additional 3-5 years.

STA. RITA HILLS

2010 WALT “CLOS PEPE” STA. RITA HILLS PINOT NOIR… $60
92 POINTS -James Laube, Wine Spectator
The 2010 WALT “Clos Pepe” Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir showed off its remarkable character even as pre-fermented juice. We knew we had something special on our hands and exhibited enormous care throughout vinification to preserve the distinctive perfumes, flavors and textures of the wine. Displaying a Burgundian disposition, the wine is dark, earthy, smokey and spilling over with red fruits. The texture allures with its richness and density while the wine’s supple lift and delicate mouthfeel warrant an enduring balance and completeness.

2010 WALT “RITA’S CROWN” STA. RITA HILLS PINOT NOIR… $60
90 POINTS -James Laube, Wine Spectator
The 2010 WALT “Rita’s Crown” Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a mesmerizing effort. The wine is light in color yet lavishly fragrant and there is a power, grace and opulence that courses through its palate. The manifestation of the vine’s parenting soils is displayed in the mineral-rich, chalky aromas and flavors. Strikingly opulent in style, the 2010 WALT Rita’s Crown boasts immeasurable layers of plum, rose-petal and cherry, and should be enjoyed over the next 1-2 years.

2010 WALT “SANFORD & BENEDICT” STA. RITA HILLS PINOT NOIR… $60
The 2010 WALT “Sanford & Benedict” Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is comprised of two small vineyard plantings, one old and one young. The mature vines provide the solid structure and firm tannins, while the younger vines give this wine its fragrance and spice. Huge red berry aromas, woven together with jammy plum and red rose petal, emanate from the glass. The texture is pure and deep, with bright raspberry, red cherry and brown spice. Solidly focused and seamlessly integrated, expect this wine to evolve and expand over the next 5-7 years.

WILLAMETTE VALLEY

2010 WALT “SHEA VINEYARD” WILLAMETTE VALLEY PINOT NOIR… $60
The 2010 WALT “Shea Vineyard” Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is Oregon Pinot Noir at its most exquisite. With a late spring, a cool summer and challenging conditions during the harvest season, the Shea team managed to coax every bit of ripe expression from each cluster. The fruit had an energy and personality that was impossible to suppress. Beautiful dusty cherry fruit and crushed rose petal scents soar from the glass. A vibrant palate, laced with plum and spice are lifted by silky tannins and classic Oregon minerality. This wine will effortlessly age for seven year or more though the primary character of the wine is at its peak now.
