2012 HALL "Eighteen Seventy-Three" Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep garnet in color, this bold blend has vivid aromas of ripe blackberry, cassis, roasted hazelnut and vanilla. The palate is robust, layered with sturdy tannins that frame its fruit character and finish with a silky smooth, mineral character. This wine’s structured tannins will evolve beautifully over the next decade.
IN 1873, CAPTAIN WILLIAM PETERSON came to Napa and established a pioneering winery on our St. Helena property. Throughout the 1930’s and 40’s, the site grew to become Napa’s most important winery, producing nearly 40% of its entire vintage. The fruit for our “Eighteen Seventy-Three” hails from the rugged mountain slopes that frame Napa Valley. Power and individuality underscore this wine, a deliberate intent to commemorate the trailblazing spirit of Napa’s first vintners.

|Vintage Notes||"The last 2012 I tasted was the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon "1873', which is part of their Artisan Collection and named after Captain William Peterson, who established a pioneering winery on their St. Helena property in 1873. This is another beauty from Hall. Dense ruby/purple with layered blackcurrant fruit mixed with licorice, incense and forest floor, this deep, full-bodied, opulent wine has gorgeous purity and harmony among its component parts. Like so many of these wines, it has symmetry and density that are world-class. Drink over the next 20 years."|
