2014 WALT "The Corners" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
The Corners Pinot Noir displays warm aromatics of five spice, ripe blue fruit, and black cherry. Roasted stems bring a streamlined and focused quality to the mouthfeel. The palate is smooth with dark berry character, interlaced with warm, spicy barrel leading into a sweet, lingering finish.
In 2014, an exceptionally dry winter and warm spring led to an early bud break. The growing season ran ahead of schedule all year. The lower yields produced concentrated, complex, and age-worthy wines.
|Varietal Composition||100% Pinot Noir|
|Barrel Aging||10 months in 45% New Francois Freres|
|Vineyard||The Corners Vineyard|
|Vintage Notes||Another beauty is the 2014 Pinot Noir The Corner's, which comes from a site in the Anderson Valley in Sonoma. Aged ten months in 45% new French oak, this puppy sports a deep ruby color as well as tons of cassis, black raspberries, toasted spice and nicely integrated oak. Medium-bodied, concentrated and layered, it's already hard to resist, yet I suspect it will keep nicely through 2024.|
