2015 HALL Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain opens with expressive creme de cassis, mocha and tilled soil notes with hints of blueberry compote, dried bay leaves and truffles, plus a touch of black olives. Big, voluptuous, full-bodied and full-on sexy in the mouth, it struts a lot of spicy fruit with plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with great length."
Opaque, deep purple. Classic Diamond Mountain nose - coca spice, dried herbs and lavender, black cherry, cola, and sassafras. The wine is immediately rich, dense, and focused on the palate with cascading flavors that don’t seems to recede. Dark chocolate and freshly tilled earth are accompanied by blackberry preserves and strawberry coulis. The finish is lingering and echoes the round and opulent mid palate.
Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, the prevalent variety of the area. With porous, volcanic-derived soils, the vines produce distinctively earthy, chocolate-laced flavors, wrapped around rich, opulent tannins.

|Vintage Notes||An unseasonably warm spring brought early bloom and bud break. Temperatures cooled in May causing grape shatter, which resulted in uneven fruit set and reduced an already low crop yield. In reaction, vineyard crews worked even more diligently during verasion thinning to maintain even ripening of the clusters. As a result of the growing conditions, attention to detail in the vineyards and a final pass through optical sorting equipment at the winery, the quality of the vintage is extremely high.|
