2015 WALT Clos Pepe Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 1.5L
"Dark as night in the glass, this lavish take on Pinot Noir, which would work great in a steak house, shows black cherry, licorice, black sage and crushed asphalt on the nose. Lush tones of black cherry and creamy caramel also show on the sip, but there is earthy minerality, roasted meat umami tones and vibrant spearmint touches as well."

Sandy Loam Soils
Cause vines to produce grapes with powerful varietal
Clos Pepe features bright cherry, with a hint of darker berry fruit. There is well integrated oak - just subtly spicy and warm, but not overwhelming the vineyard character. The palate opens up beautifully and is full and lush with bright minerality on the finish - a distinguishing characteristic of the Clos Pepe site. Flavors of dark berry coulis mingle with fresh earth and hints of smoked paprika that lead into a well textured finish.
The iconic Clos Pepe vineyard is situated in a cool enclave within the Sta. Rita Hills. The prevailing winds coming from the Pacific slow the ripening of these vines, allowing for saturated flavors to accumulate throughout the decidedly long growing season.

|Vintage Notes||The 2015 growing season delivered another great vintage. A mild winter with a dry, warm March caused early bud break. Colder temperatures and light rain in late spring stunted cluster development which ultimately led to smaller grape clusters and berries. Summer temperatures were mild and ripening progressed slowly and steadily with intense flavors developing early. This vintage exhibits concentrated aromatics and deep color.|
