"The ‘Bob’s Ranch’ Pinot Noir is a stunning new wine by WALT, and shining brightly amongst the best wines that I have tasted from this great producer. The cherry cola and black tea elements are powerful with shades of life err on the nose. The wine is incredible dense with a massive core. Dark fruits mingle with cherry cola and cinnamon flavors with peat moss undertones. The seriously good mouthfeel entices, as does the vibrant minerality. While exciting and highly satisfying in its youth, this outstanding wine will evolve well for a decade or more. "

Deep, intense garnet in color, this wine displays powerful aromas of wild blackberry, earth, black tea, and hints of violet. Dark ripe blackberry, Chinese 5-spice, wet stone, and hints of black truffle combine with a firm, spicy oak structure. Dynamic and focused on the palate, the wine has a long and layered finish.

Comprised of 43 vineyard blocks on 72 acres, and planted to an array of clones and field selections this ranch produces complex and delicious wines of true Sonoma Coast character. This wine hails from our best vineyard blocks at Bob’s Ranch each year.

| Vintage Notes | The 2017 growing season began with significant rainfall, replenishing soils and reservoirs. A summer of gradual warmth indicated a textbook growing season until unpredictable spells of extreme heat throughout September created challenges for many vineyards. This heightened the rate of ripening and flavor development in the grapes. Cooling marine air arrived just in time to bring our vineyards to ideal harvesting conditions resulting in concentrated, rich, and dense wines. |
