Flavors of hibiscus, raspberry, blackberry, and vanilla
bolstered by structured tannins result in a balanced
wine that is dangerously drinkable.
Calistoga AVA – Pocai Vineyard
At the base of a gentle alluvial fan in the Calistoga AVA, framed by mountain ranges at the northernmost end of the Napa Valley, lies Pocai Vineyard. The gravelly soil drains well here and the sunlight is optimum. Hot summer days tempered by cool coastal breezes in the evening provide perfect ripening conditions for this expressive Zinfandel. The Ballentine family draws on their 100-year heritage of farming this site, first planted by their maternal grandfather, Libero Pocai.

|Vintage Notes||Following a series of warm, early harvests, this year’s growing season returned to a slower rhythm, allowing grapes to ripen gently with deep flavors. Our growers spent the summer and fall manicuring the vine canopies to provide the grapes enough shade from the sun while also preparing adequate airflow to deter mold. When Mother Nature did throw a couple of unpredictable systems at us, we were able to weather the storms and harvest exceptional fruit!|
