2018 WALT Blue Jay Pinot Noir 1.5L
Critic Review
"Good depth of flavor and great structure make this wine appealing and complete. Smoky aromas of clove, cedar and black pepper lead to concentrated and rich black-cherry and red-cherry flavors on a moderately tannic texture."

"Sourced from an area just outside of Boonville in the Anderson Valley AVA, this Pinot Noir shows damp earthy tones that mingle with shades of wild blackberry and black cherry on the nose. The palate is plush with great texture and bright red and dark fruits that mingle with shades of cola and baking spices. With a great sense of mouthfeel and acidity, this beautiful wine will cellar well for another decade."

Our 2018 Blue Jay is sourced on steep hillsides. The aspect and light gravelly soils in these very rugged sites combine to create optimal ripening conditions. The resulting wines consistently present fruit of great depth and character.

Vintage Notes | Following a series of warm, early harvests, this year’s growing season returned to a slower rhythm, allowing grapes to ripen gently with deep flavors. Our growers spent the summer and fall manicuring the vine canopies to provide the grapes enough shade from the sun while also preparing adequate airflow to deter mold. When Mother Nature did throw a couple of unpredictable systems at us, we were able to weather the storms and harvest exceptional fruit! |
