2018 WALT Bob's Ranch Pinot Noir
Critic Review
"The vineyard was planted for them with varied clones and rootstocks, as this vineyard has a very diverse Pinot Noir selections. The first vintage of this wine was in 2014. The elegance of the wine and seamless texture is simply magical. This shows gorgeous dark fruits with cola and citrus rind tones, with a err of salinity. With gorgeous length, this scintillating new Pinot Noir will cellar well for decades to come. This is a complete wine."
92 Points | Wine Advocate, Erin Brooks
"The 2018 Pinot Noir Bob's Ranch has slowly unfurling scents of blackberry jam and cranberry sauce with notions of forest floor, black tea leaves and cola. Medium-bodied and silky, it's mega spicy in the mouth with a great balance of bright fruit and earth character, and it finishes long and uplifted.

There is a serious, earthy essence to the wine from Bob’s Ranch. In 2018 new winemaking techniques further reveal the site’s unique characteristics. A touch of whole cluster fermentation enhances the savory character of the wine, and fermentation in concrete tanks bring out minerality and vibrancy. On the nose, fine aromas of fermented black tea, tilled soil and delicious barrel smoke are reminiscent of Pu’er tea. Dark plum and blackberry flavors are layered on the seamless, plush palate. The delineated structure of the wine builds to a long finish.

Vintage Notes | Following a series of warm, early harvests, this year’s growing season returned to a slower rhythm, allowing grapes to ripen gently with deep flavors. Our growers spent the summer and fall manicuring the vine canopies to provide the grapes enough shade from the sun while also preparing adequate airflow to deter mold. When Mother Nature did throw a couple of unpredictable systems at us, we were able to weather the storms and harvest exceptional fruit! |
