2018 WALT The Corners Pinot Noir
Critic Review
"Almost-sweet flavors of butter and butterscotch complement plenty of ripe strawberry and black-plum notes in this full-bodied and very smooth-textured wine. It's generous, ripe and delicious."
91 Points | Wine Spectator, Kim Marcus
"Rich, contoured and juicy, with concentrated cherry tart and dark plum flavors that offer creamy nuances. Cardamom and toasty notes emerge on the suave finish.

Medium-pale ruby color, this wine has fresh, effusive aromas of black cherry, blueberry compote, tobacco leaf, and dried mushroom rise from the glass. The rich and seamless mouthfeel is full of luscious dark fruit flavors. Elements of spice and density are heightened by the inclusion of roasted stems in the fermentation. The vivid, lingering finish is laced with hints of baking spices.

This is a very unique vineyard from Anderson Valley, featuring steep hillsides combined with light gravelly soils that create optimal ripening conditions. The Corners is typically sourced from the upper elevation blocks, where small vines and berries produce a concentrated and opulent wine.

Vintage Notes | Following a series of warm, early harvests, this year’s growing season returned to a slower rhythm, allowing grapes to ripen gently with deep flavors. Our growers spent the summer and fall manicuring the vine canopies to provide the grapes enough shade from the sun while also preparing adequate airflow to deter mold. When Mother Nature did throw a couple of unpredictable systems at us, we were able to weather the storms and harvest exceptional fruit! |
