2019 HALL Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Critic Review
"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain (made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a little youthfully shy to begin, soon offering up provocative scents of black cherry cordial, warm cassis, crushed rocks and tar with nuances of Morello cherries, bouquet garni and lavender. The full-bodied palate reveals impressive energy and depth with layers of black and blue fruits accented by earthy/savory nuances and supported by very firm, ripe tannins, finishing with fantastic freshness and length. A very exciting wine in the making!"

Deep purple hue. Effusive aromas of black fruit, 5-spice, leather, and earth. The palate opens with a supple texture that plays off of the abundant dark fruit flavors. Exotic spice, cocoa, black pepper, and a mineral note accompany the fruit flavors beautifully. Full-bodied, rich, and lengthy - displaying abundant tannin and pleasant grip on the finish. This is a beautiful expression of Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, the prevalent variety of the area. With porous, volcanic-derived soils, the vines produce distinctively earthy, chocolate-laced flavors, wrapped around rich, opulent tannins.

Vintage Notes | The 2019 vintage began with a wet spring bringing three inches of rain in May. In response to the late rains our vineyards received diligent attention to control vigorous vine growth. A long Indian summer followed with mild weather, allowing the fruit to ripen at slow, even place. The long picking windows bore fruit with beautiful freshness at optimal ripeness. The resulting wines are exceptionally elegant. |
