"Black raspberries, plums, spring flowers, and chalky minerality all emerge from the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District, a pure, concentrated, full-bodied 2021 that has a fresher, focused mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a rich, concentrated, yet balanced..."

"...a heady concoction of blackberry jam, graphite, menthol, licorice, plum, black cherry, chocolate and lavender. I would give the tannins a year or two to soften. This rich, full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignon is an exotic beauty."
93 Points | Wine Spectator, James Molesworth
"A fruit-driven red, with a generous core of boysenberry, açaí and blackberry compote flavors that won't quit, lingering on the finish while light notes of anise, violet and singed tobacco peek in. Will be hard to lay off with such generous fruit, but there's substance for some bottle development, too. Drink now through 2036.:

"...It boasts lovely floral aromas combined with redcurrants and cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated and velvety, tannic and dusty but also fresh and mouthwatering, not overdone at all."

Our 2021 Stags Leap displays characteristic bright, high-tone aromas of ripe black cherry, gravel, and cedar layered in amongst a savory vinous note. The palate is lush, flashy and loaded with very concentrated dark fruits and a strong note of cassis. Dense and powerful tannin leads into a decadent, lengthy finish that ends with vibrant acidity. This wine is very youthful, and will age beautifully over the next 15+ years.

We source our fruit from a small enclave within the Stags Leap District. The vineyard is bounded on the east by the warming Stags Leap Palisades, on the west by rolling hills and the Napa River, on the north by the Yountville Cross Road, and on the south by flatlands. The dramatic diurnal shifts, emanating from the San Pablo Bay influences, ushers in cool nighttime air, which helps the grapes retain their tell-tale fresh acidity. The wine possesses bright red berry and plum flavors, with a vibrant and lengthy core of tannin.

Vintage NotesThe alluring 2021 vintage is notable for its low yields, which resulted in an extra degree of concentration in our wines. In a second year of severe drought, the vines grew quickly in the warm spring weather while our team carefully managed irrigation block by block. By summer, the vines had set a lighter than average crop, and cooler weather in August allowed time for multiple vineyard passes to finetune the fruit load and manage the canopy. After a smooth harvest season, we are excited about the beautifully balanced, flavor-packed 2021's.
