Deep garnet in color. The complex perfume of this wine reveals ripe raspberry and strawberry notes interwoven with dried rose petals and a rich, resinous quality of aromatic wood. The plush and supple texture of the palate gives a round and warming impression. Seamlessly integrated oak barrel spice and luscious acidity lead to a finessed finish.

This vineyard, named for Gary Franscioni's wife Rosella, was planted in 1996 and was the first in their portfolio. Rosella's vineyard is characterized by it's maritime climate with strong coastal winds coming off of the Monterey Bay. Foggy mornings and sunny, breezy afternoons keep the site cool and ideal for Pinot Noir. We work with Pisoni, 777, 667, and 828 clones at this site which bring complexity and nuance to the finished wine.

Vintage Notes | The alluring 2021 vintage is remarkable for its low yields, which resulted in an extra degree of concentration in our wines. In a second year of drought, the vines grew quickly in the warm spring weather while our team judiciously managed watering block by block. By summer, the vines had set a lighter than average crop, and cooler weather in August allowed time for vineyard passes to finetune the fruit load and manage the canopy. After a smooth harvest season, we are excited about the flavor-packed 2021's. |
