2022 HALL Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon
Critic Review
"This 2022 ‘Stag’s Leap District’ comes from two main sites including the Schweizer and Taylor Vineyards. The wine shows off Bing cherry and red florals on the nose alongside sweet pipe tobacco and suggestions of coffee grounds. The palate is fresh and lithe with a smooth texture and great sense of weight and length. A beautiful wine to enjoy now, savor this now and over the next fifteen years..."

"...medium to full-bodied richness, and fine tannins. It's already accessible, with ripe yet not over-the-top levels of fruit, terrific balance, and outstanding length..."
94 Points | The Wine Independent, Lisa Perotti-Brown
"...notes of plum pudding, dried cherries, and preserved blackberries, giving way to hints of tobacco, dried bay leaves, and dusty soil. The big, concentrated, full-bodied palate has a slight chewiness to the texture with a racy line and long fragrant earth-laced finish."
93 Points | Vinous, Antonio Galloni
"The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District is packed with blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, incense, cloves and licorice. This deep, full-throttle, inky Cabernet is not exactly subtle, but it does offer quite a bit of depth and persistence."
2022 HALL Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2022 Stags Leap opens with effusive aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and violets. A signature vibrant acidity on the palate is balanced by silky, opulent, and concentrated tannin layered with a note of gravelly minerality. Dark fruit flavors mingle with earth to round out a pleasantly grippy finish. This particular vintage is drinking beautifully now and will age for years to come.

We source our fruit from a small enclave within the Stags Leap District. The vineyard is bounded on the east by the warming Stags Leap Palisades, on the west by rolling hills and the Napa River, on the north by the Yountville Cross Road, and on the south by flatlands. The dramatic diurnal shifts, emanating from the San Pablo Bay influences, ushers in cool nighttime air, which helps the grapes retain their tell-tale fresh acidity. The wine possesses bright red berry and plum flavors, with a vibrant and lengthy core of tannin.

| Vintage Notes | Ample winter rain, followed by temperate and dry conditions through March gave us a good start to the vintage. The spring and summer months were consistent and warm, resulting in small but healthy canopies and balanced vines. Labor Day came with a curveball from Mother Nature in the form of a prolonged heat wave that accelerated harvest at many of our vineyard sites, followed immediately by much cooler weather and a bit of rain. This refreshing slow-down allowed the remaining grapes to hang a bit longer, yielding beautifully balanced fruit and polished tannin. Overall the 2022 vintage is fresh with pure, concentrated flavors. |
