On-Call Wine Educator- Healdsburg

Hall family of wines is looking for a part-time on call Wine Educator for our WALT BACA tasting room in Healdsburg. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated hospitality professional to be a part of our first cobranded property for WALT & BACA Wines. WALT & BACA are owned by the Hall family, whose reputation for outstanding wines and hospitality is far-reaching. WALT makes world class Pinot Noirs & Chardonnays from premier vineyards across the Pacific Coast. BACA is our newest brand and makes Zinfandel from pedigreed California vineyards.

The Wine Educator is responsible for hosting visitors to the WALT & BACA tasting room for tours & tastings, and educating guests on our story, and wines in order to sell wine, acquire new wine club members, and create ambassadors to the brand.

Director of Technology

The Director of Technology is a hands-on role responsible for developing the company’s strategy for using technological resources and systems. They will serve as an architect for our system infrastructure and ensure the system works correctly at all times. This role reports directly to the President..

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop technical aspects of the business strategy to ensure alignment with goals.
  • Evaluate the current system to identify redundancies, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Serve as a lead architect to the technical systems infrastructure company-wide assisted by the key stakeholders.
  • Supervise system infrastructure to ensure proper functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technology outages or breaks to functionality.
  • Discover, vet, and implement new technologies as business needs arise.
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes.
  • Monitor KPIs and manage IT budgets to assess technological performance.
  • Work with key stakeholders to make improvements and adjustments to existing and new technology.
  • Communicate the technology strategy to executive leaders.
  • Organize trainings for departments to use technology proficiently (i.e. Visitor Center Managers, Wine Club).

Backstaff- Healdsburg

The BACA Back Staff position is responsible for tour set up, break down, and assistance during tours. Tasks include setting tour tasting room, preparing food accompaniment, washing and polishing glassware, stocking wines, retrieving wine for pick-ups, and assisting as needed in the tasting room. Lifting is required for equipment and boxes of wines. This person must be a friendly team player, attentive to details and responsible.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Follow the directions of the BACA Management team to set-up, service and tear down tours and events.
  • Prepare food items, menus, glassware and all set up for public tours throughout the day
  • Cleaning prior to, during and following tours and events (includes kitchens, restrooms, outdoor seating areas, walkways, kitchens and offices.)
  • Wash and polish glassware, dishes and silverware.
  • Ensuring sufficient supplies (glasses, china, silver, linens, wines, etc.) are in place.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order. Identify any equipment that needs to be cleaned, repaired or replaced.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and guests.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as required by management

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old in order to serve alcohol.
  • Previous experience in hospitality service preferably in a winery setting or restaurant.
  • Must agree to participate in random drug testing as required. HALL maintains a drug-free work environment.
  • Must be willing to go through background check.

Physical requirements:

Requires continuous standing and carrying 50 lbs.; occasional climbing, stooping, twisting and fine manipulation; intermittent bending.

Membership Assistant- Logistics and Service

The primary role of this position is to assist our members and consumers who join our wine club and purchase wine by phone and email in a way that exceeds their expectations regarding their membership and consumer service needs. In addition, candidates must possess the ability to provide a high level of personal service to our members and consumers with a keen sense of luxury, care, and execution.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the Membership group in a customer care capacity. Proactively assist in maintaining high-level experience and relationships with our members by email and phone.
  • Process fulfillment requests and create and manage cases via Salesforce and the Fulfillment team.
  • Communicate with our customers & members promptly regarding customer service order inquiries while escalating and delegating to the appropriate internal department and personnel as needed.
  • Assist the Membership team in an administrative capacity, including mailings, filing, wine club auditing, customer service calls, and internal departments.
  • Handle other tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the winery, brand messaging, and products, including wines, membership programs, holiday gift programs, and seasonal promotional offers.
  • Heavy use of systems including Salesforce, Microsoft Office Teams, Word & Excel, and Ship Compliant
  • Have working knowledge of compliance regards to state mandates & requirements
  • First contact resolution: Properly addressing our members' and clients' needs at first touch-point; eliminating the need for the customer to follow up with a second contact.
  • Utilize the CRM database to create innovative uses of customer data to enhance member and consumer relationships while adding incremental revenue to the membership services group.
  • Work with the Director of Membership & Wine Club Manager to identify new and creative opportunities to leverage Salesforce CRM related to retention and member benefits.
  • Be proactive in presenting ideas and solutions that drive better customer experiences on the web, our membership services team, and our hospitality locations.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for user assistance and issues with Magento, our Order Management and eCommerce platform across all business channels, including tasting rooms and fulfillment.
  • On occasion, work at winery events at any of our locations in Napa and Sonoma.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as required by the winery.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or similar degree preferred or relevant work experience.
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience.
  • Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoy telephone work and engaging our Members and Guests.
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

Viticulture Technician - Napa

The Viticulture Technician for HALL Family of Wines assists the Vineyard Team in the production of ultra-premium wine grapes from both internal estates and external grower sources. This individual is responsible for ensuring the health and growth of vines to produce the optimal fruit quality for each growing region and vintage, as determined by farming and winemaking production goals. The position primarily supports the internal Viticulturist with scouting, field sampling, record keeping and reporting, and collecting research trial and basic vineyard data. Additionally, the Vit Tech aids the Grower Representative, as needed for general vineyard tasks, but particularly during crop estimation and harvest maturity sampling in collaboration with the Viticulturist.

Responsibilities Include:

  • General vineyard scouting and monitoring throughout growing and harvest seasons (e.g., pests, diseases, water stress, nutrition, and weeds)
  • Phenological data collection (i.e., budbreak, bloom, and veraison dates)
  • Crop yield forecasting (e.g., cluster/shoot counts and cluster counts/weights)
  • Petiole collection for nutrient analyses
  • Vine water status monitoring (e.g., visual observations, pressure bombs)
  • Assist with irrigation scheduling and fertilizer programs
  • Soil sample collection for chemical composition and biological pests
  • Irrigation water sampling for chemical composition
  • Distribution uniformity testing of irrigation systems
  • Research trial set-up, data collection, and methodology write-ups
  • All sources of data collection, entry, and analysis (e.g., scouting notes and observations)
  • Collect and process grape samples from assigned blocks during harvest
  • Assist in laboratory grape berry maturity analyses, as needed
  • Assist in identifying and marking specific sampling and harvesting areas for each vineyard block
  • Check on individual vineyards during harvest for quality control and monitoring
  • Vine counts
  • Production of vineyard block maps in GIS environment
  • Assist with certification and regulatory records, compliance, and reporting

Requirements:

  • Agricultural experience or Viticulture/Horticulture education, preferred
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record is required
  • Computer proficiency is necessary (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
  • GIS knowledge is helpful but not necessary
  • Possess a positive attitude, disciplined work ethic, and strong communication skills

Cellar Worker - St. Helena, CA

Our amazing production team is looking for a full-time experience cellar professional to join the team and assist will all areas of the Cellar. This is a full-time, year round role.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Follow all employee safety rules
  • Perform all aspects of cellar work, including but not limited to wine movements, racking, blending and bottling
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of winery equipment
  • Clean winery, bins, floors, walls, and different areas as needed
  • Available to work the day or night shift during harvest and perform all related activities: receipt and handling of grapes, cap management, draining, pressing, barreling, topping
  • Assure highest quality cellar operations consistent with winemaking standards
  • Communicate with multiple departments to insure efficient workflow
  • Perform routine barrel maintenance
  • Perform all barrel activities - rack, fill, top/stir, additions, load, and unload barrel trucks
  • Operate forklift
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
  • Learn and effectively train others on all work processes in accordance with SOPs
  • Assist with inventory of cellar and bottling supplies
  • Assist during bottling operations: forklifting, wine transfers, dumping station, packing cases, stacking cases on pallets, shrink wrap pallets, bottling quality control
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
  • Contribute to improvements and processes required to gain efficiency and quality assurance in the cellar department

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years winery production experience
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Forklift experience a plus
  • Spanish language skills a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds on a frequent basis

Member Associate - St. Helena

 The primary role of this position is to guide and assist our members and consumers who join our wine club and purchase wine by phone and e-mail in a way that exceeds their expectations. In addition, candidates must possess the ability to provide a high level of personal service to our members and an aptitude to sell wine.

Job Summary

  • Support the membership services group in a sales and customer care capacity. Proactively maintain relationships with our members by email and phone. Process daily orders and communication in a timely manner in addition to sales inquiries from our direct mail, electronic mail and other inbound telephone campaigns.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing programs utilizing CRM information to gain valuable insight on our members and mailing list subscribers. Identify opportunities to improve guest experiences and increase sales.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the winery, brand messaging and products to include wines, membership programs, retail items, holiday gift programs, and seasonal promotional offers.
  • Sell wine and promote HALL and WALT via telephone, email and online orders, inquiries, and requests. Learn and understand shipping laws as they relate to direct sales.
  • Utilize the CRM database to create innovative uses of customer data to enhance member and consumer relationships while adding incremental revenue to the membership services group.
  • Keen grasp on technology and leveraging CRM
  • Heavy administrative record keeping and business operations standards including updating Salesforce contact records, order management including processing, refunds, fulfillment, case management, etc.
  • Work with the Director of Membership to identify new and creative opportunities to leverage Salesforce CRM as it relates to retention and member benefits. Be proactive in presenting ideas and solutions that drive better customer experiences on the web, through our membership services team and at our hospitality locations.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for user assistance and issues with Magento, our Order Management and Ecommerce platform across all business channels including tasting rooms, wholesale, and fulfillment
  • On occasion, work at winery events at any of our locations in Napa and Sonoma.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as required by the winery.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or similar degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of sales experience, preferably in a wine, beer or spirits related business. Experience in Direct to Consumer Sales a plus.
  • Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoy telephone work and engaging our Members and Guests.
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines and aggressive sales goals
  • Ability to manage your “business” with a focus on prioritization and multi-tasking.

Backstaff - St. Helena/Rutherford

The HALL Back Staff position is responsible for tour set up, break down, and assistance during tours. Tasks include setting tour tasting room, preparing food accompaniment, washing and polishing glassware, stocking wines, retrieving wine for pick-ups, and assisting as needed in the tasting room. Lifting is required for equipment and boxes of wines. This person must be a friendly team player, attentive to details and responsible.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Follow the directions of the HALL Management team to set-up, service and tear down tours and events.
  • Prepare food items, menus, glassware and all set up for public tours throughout the day
  • Cleaning prior to, during and following tours and events (includes kitchens, restrooms, outdoor seating areas, walkways, kitchens and offices.)
  • Wash and polish glassware, dishes and silverware.
  • Ensuring sufficient supplies (glasses, china, silver, linens, wines, etc.) are in place.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order. Identify any equipment that needs to be cleaned, repaired, or replaced.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and guests.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as required by management

  2. Previous experience in hospitality service preferably in a winery setting or restaurant.

Guest Relations Associate - St. Helena

Guest Relations upholds the HALL philosophy of quality, responsibility and exceptional customer service by working as part of a successful Visitor Center team. Responsibilities Include:

  • Work closely with MOD to book public tours and maximize profitability while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and customer service. Booking and charging tours appropriately as to ensure a smooth flow throughout the day.
  • Inform visiting guests about variety of experiences available at the Visitor Center, and assisting them in making a choice that best suits their needs and desires.
  • Ensure that reservations are accurately recorded at the reception desk, in person, by telephone, and through the Cellar Pass and Salesforce systems for all HALL public tour programs.
  • Assist with inputting shipping orders, retrieving and properly recording wine pickups, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Promote and sell the wine club, assist Wine Educators with wine sales and cash handling, focus on data capture.

  • Work with manager on ensuring merchandise in all areas is properly stocked and displayed

Shipping Associate
Napa, CA

The primary role of this position is to provide support for our Direct to Consumer programs through the fulfillment of direct orders. Orders stem from wine club, online, and winery sales. We fulfill orders in a way that exceeds our customers’ expectations. The Shipping Associate will report to the Shipping Manager and is vital in assisting the shipping department to prepare packages, accurately packing of wine orders including wine club, samples, and re-shipment of undeliverable packages.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing and packing orders for daily, club and sample requests.
  • Verification and accuracy of products on each order.
  • Help maintain an accurate inventory and restocking of incoming inventory.
  • Receiving inbound products and deliveries.
  • Keep work areas neat for efficiency and safety.

WALT Lead Wine Educator

Responsibilities Include:

  • The Lead Wine Educator ‘leads’ the efforts of the tasting room by supervising staff when the Tasting Room Manager is not physically at the particular tasting where they are present. The Lead will supervise and guide the ongoing operations of the tasting room by executing the sales, membership acquisition, profitability and hospitality strategies set forth by the Manager.

Harvest Cellar Worker
We embrace an environment dedicated to high-end winemaking. This is an excellent opportunity to work with various varietals at an ultra-premium winery. Duties include assisting with all cellar activities including wine movements, crushing, racking, blending, and bottling. Cellar Workers are responsible for sanitation in all areas of cellar operations including tanks, floors, fittings, and all other equipment. Positions typically last about four months, between August and November.


Harvest Lab Technician/Cellar
Initially, under close supervision, this laboratory portion of this position will be responsible for the analysis and sample prep associated with fermentation monitoring and grape maturity tracking. Communications Coordinator – PR & Social

Partner Relations Associate

The primary role of the Partner Relations Associate is to provide administrative and customer service support and follow through to the Partner Relations team and the partners/investors. Using attention to detail, this role is heavy in data entry and ensuring databases are correct while making sure our investors have what they need.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Administration: Ensure data is accurate and assist Partner Relations Manager, Vice President, other departments, and partners with information as needed.

Hall family of wines is looking for a Wine Educator for our HALL tasting room in St. Helena. HALL is owned by the Hall family, whose reputation for outstanding wines and hospitality is far-reaching. HALL makes world class Cabernet Sauvignons from premier estate vineyards.

The Wine Educator is responsible for hosting visitors to the HALL tasting room for tours & tastings, and educating guests on our story, and wines in order to sell wine, acquire new wine club members, and create ambassadors to the brand.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Customer Care Coordinator
St. Helena, CA

The primary role of this position is to assist our members and consumers who join our wine club and purchase wine by phone and email in a way that exceeds their expectations regarding their membership and consumer service needs. In addition, candidates must possess the ability to provide a high level of personal service to our members and consumers with a keen sense of luxury, care, and execution.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the Membership group in a customer care capacity. Proactively assist in maintaining high-level experience and relationships with our members by email and phone.
  • Process fulfillment requests and create and manage cases via Salesforce and the Fulfillment team.
  • Communicate with our customers & members promptly regarding customer service order inquiries while escalating and delegating to the appropriate internal department and personnel as needed.
  • Assist the Membership team in an administrative capacity, including mailings, filing, wine club auditing, customer service calls, and internal departments.
  • Handle other tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the winery, brand messaging, and products, including wines, membership programs, holiday gift programs, and seasonal promotional offers.
  • Heavy use of systems including Salesforce, Microsoft Office Teams, Word & Excel, and Ship Compliant
  • Have working knowledge of compliance regards to state mandates & requirements
    First contact resolution: Properly addressing our members' and clients' needs at first touch-point; eliminating the need for the customer to follow up with a second contact.
  • Utilize the CRM database to create innovative uses of customer data to enhance member and consumer relationships while adding incremental revenue to the membership services group.
  • Work with the Director of Membership & Wine Club Manager to identify new and creative opportunities to leverage Salesforce CRM related to retention and member benefits.
  • Be proactive in presenting ideas and solutions that drive better customer experiences on the web, our membership services team, and our hospitality locations.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for user assistance and issues with Magento, our Order Management and eCommerce platform across all business channels, including tasting rooms and fulfillment.
  • On occasion, work at winery events at any of our locations in Napa and Sonoma.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as required by the winery.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or similar degree preferred or relevant work experience.
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience.
  • Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoy telephone work and engaging our Members and Guests.
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

Hours & Days Required:
Full-time position working Monday through Friday but must be flexible to work different days and hours as required. Weekend work is infrequent. There are at least four occasions throughout the year when this person assists with events at the winery.

Sr. eCommerce Coordinator
St. Helena, CA

The Sr. eCommerce Coordinator owns the operational support of all sites, site features, customer experience and related core processes. They drive the implementation of best practices, proper execution, promote efficiency, and ensure customer satisfaction. This individual will be integral to the success of the Hall Family Wines eCommerce business, as he or she will work with multiple stakeholders and platforms developing and executing strategy, plans and processes to ensure the site customer experience is optimal.

This individual will be responsible for executing day-to-day activities required to maintain normal operations of our online stores. These duties will include, but not be limited to, supporting cross-functional execution of campaigns, overseeing back-end and front-end operations, SKU and inventory management, and shipment resolution.

Job Summary:

Website Management
  • Manage all aspects of the online wine shop including product and category setup, merchandizing, and featured content.
  • In partnership with the Director of eCommerce, set up and manage all discounts, test for accuracy.
Customer Experience
  • Oversee escalation of customer service inquires, maintaining exceptional standards, compliance, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with the Shipping team to troubleshoot and resolve carrier and customer issues.
  • Leveraging Monetate, our personalized content vendor, own the online customer experience implementation and roadmap. Using A/B testing and analytics, continually evolve the customer experience with personalization and conversion enhancements.
Wine Club
  • Set up bundle SKU’s each quarter that power all wine club batch related processes within Magento.
  • Merchandise bundles with appropriate products to ensure the customization tool is presented correctly to customers.
  • Use analytics and inventory needs to optimize bundle setup for switch and add-on
Product Creation
  • In partnership with the Inventory Control Analyst, submit new SKU requests and manage the creation process.
Product Management
  • Proactively add all products to the website, ensuring correct pricing, categories, CMS blocks, SEO tagging, images, and ribbons. Remove/change product details when needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure products that have available inventory remain in stock on the Magneto inventory ticker.
  • Create and manage category merchandising, leveraging analytics to drive product sequencing.
eCommerce Related CMS Management
  • Maintain updated CMS content that directly relates to eCommerce, including but not limited to homepage featured products, menu navigation, shipping and returns content.
Marketing
  • Work with the marketing team to develop product related landing pages for campaigns.
eCommerce Platform Functionality/Features and Project Management
  • Keep running queue of desired projects as they relate to the eCommerce business.
  • Work with appropriate parties to evolve project ideas into a detailed summaries, containing the necessary information to fully understand the desired result, supporting business reasons, and scope of effort.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the latest innovations in the market, with regards to online shopping, and suggest adjustments to the HALL Family Wines experience where relevant.
Analytics
  • Provide regular reporting across the organization, continually improve on reports as the business matures, run ad hoc investigations to answer important questions. Contribute to monthly eCommerce reports.
  • Provide postmortem reporting for promotional activities, comparing results to recent sales periods as well as comparative promotional activities.
Vendor Communication
  • Working alongside the Director of eCommerce, maintain frequent communications with our external platform vendors including but not limited to: Narvar, Monetate, Re:amaze, Lucky Orange, and Fresh Relevance.

Marketing Coordinator - Email

The Marketing Coordinator, Email is responsible for developing marketing emails promoting HALL Family Wines brands including HALL, WALT, and BACA wines to drive sales through our DTC channels and communications to our Partners. Creative thinking, attention to detail, and project management skills are key for ensuring success in this role, as is experience in email programs. The position reports to the Director of Marketing.

Job Summary:

  • Work with stakeholders within the organization to develop emails to support key initiatives, such as selling wine, wine club communications, Partner communications, driving ticket sales for our wholesale events, etc.
  • Segment and send targeted emails via our email service provider.
  • Design and code marketing emails within our ESP (Email Service Provider) platform(s).
  • Develop design focused email templates to optimize sales and engagement.
  • Brainstorm, ideate, and conceptualize marketing campaigns with multiple touchpoints including email, display ads, social, and website presence. Develop email campaigns from creative ideation to design and execution to segmentation and deployment.
  • Assist with or conduct photoshoots for creative assets.

The Marketing Creative Intern is responsible for assisting and owning creative marketing projects for the HALL, WALT, and BACA brands. Creative thinking, attention to detail, and project management skills are key for ensuring success in this role, as is experience in graphic design and photography as well as a full command of digital design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The position reports to the Creative Manager and the Director of Marketing. This is a paid internship.

Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant will assist the Accounting department with data entry, processing, and recording transactions, filing and retrieving documents and reports.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide support to the Accounting Department
  • Perform basic office tasks, such as filing, data entry, processing mail, etc
  • Assist with communications to customers and vendors as needed via email or phone
  • Follow up on Accounts Receivables
