"Sporting a deep purple core with a bluish rim, the 2024 Baca Cat's Cradle Zinfandel, Rockpile is a remarkably tense and vertical expression, leading with a concentrated core of marionberry and wild bramble. Accents of cracked peppercorn and char-dusted herbs weave through a tightly wound frame that culminates in a finish defined by vibrant, zesty tannins."

Tasting notes

Brooding aromas of blackberry, dark plum, star anise, and espresso set the tone. Richly textured and concentrated, the palate layers brambly dark fruit with notes of licorice and salted dark chocolate. Full-bodied and expansive, fine-grained tannins carry through the long, supple finish.

Vintage Notes

The 2024 vintage began with much needed winter rainfall that revitalized the soil and set the stage for healthy vine growth, and a balanced crop. Summer was marked by mostly moderate temperatures with a brief burst of warmtharound Labor Day, where well-developed canopies shielded the fruit from excess heat. As harvest approached, mild daytime temperatures and cool nights arrived, allowing for steady ripening into September. The resulting wines showcase beautiful color and depth, with precise acidity, rich texture, and concentrated flavors.
