2017 HALL Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L
Sourced primarily from our Rainin Vineyard, this wine opens with perfumed aromas of dark fruits, baking chocolate, sweet tobacco, and hints of spice. The palate is velvelty and lush with mouth-coating tanning that is almost decadent in texture. Flavors are dark and brooding - blackberry and cassis are prevalent, as is a vinous quality - just sublty herbal - fresh sage. The unique volcanic soils of Diamond Mountain produce elegant and deeply concentrated wines that are nuanced, elegant, and balanced.

Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, the prevalent variety of the area. With porous, volcanic-derived soils, the vines produce distinctively earthy, chocolate-laced flavors, wrapped around rich, opulent tannins.

Vintage Notes | Our 2017 harvest wrapped up early fall following summer heat spurts and a growing season that saw significant rain throughout the state, ending a five-year drought. The season began with rainfall that refilled reservoirs and replenished soils. Harvest began early at a normal pace, and then progressed rapidly during a heat wave in late August and early September. Temperatures cooled mid-September, slowing the harvest pace and allowing grapes to ripen gradually. This is a strong quality vintage. |
