2018 HALL Bergfeld Cabernet Sauvignon
Critic Review
"Bergfeld is located at the HALL property in Saint Helena. 20 acres are planted to mainly Cabernet Sauvignon as soils are very well-drained in this ancient riverbed soils. Showing off its dense and polished mouthfeel, silky tannins line a massive core of blackberry, creme de cassis and mocha flavors with salty undertones and shades of loamy soils on the palate. Gorgeous now, this has a long way to go in the cellar."
Vibrant garnet color, the 2018 Bergfeld Cabernet sauvignon features immensely complex fruit aromas of black cherry, elderberry, blackberry and plum. Hints of violet and lilac mix with warm spicy oak notes. The wine is smooth, round, and powerful on the palate with flavors of cocoa nib, black fruit compote, dried herb, and wet stones. The tannins are abundant and velvety leading into a smooth and powerful finish.

Our St. Helena Estate vineyard is planted in alluvial soils above an ancient creek bed. The soils are light and packed with river rock and gravel. These well-drained soils, coupled with a warm growing region, encourage the vines to produce prodigious wines of great power.

Vintage Notes | This near perfect growing season began in late February. Our Spring weather was mild, and allowed for extended flowering that produced very uniform grape clusters. Temperatures throughout Napa remained steady and warm during the majority of summer and fall, without any heat spikes, making for a long and unhurried harvest. The resulting wines are incredibly smooth and polished, with magnificent texture and color. |
